Fun Dives at Aqua Gallery

This past weekend Deep Blue Quest embarked on a ‘fun diving tour” at Aqua Gallery near the town of Namae on the East Coast and what an honor and privilege it was to dive at this resort. The resort and the weekend as a whole was a fantastic experience from the luxurious dive boat, to the first class facilities to the eccentric owner Mr. Young.

Diving from Mr. Young’s boat was a real pleasure; lots of comfortable seating for donning gear, a proper head, ladders for entering/exiting the water and even an automated diver’s lift for the privileged few! Needless to say the boat ride out to the dive sites was a real treat.

excellent conditions!

The diving conditions were excellent; we were blessed with 10-15 meters of visibility and water temperature of around 27 degrees Celsius on the shallow dives and around 18 degrees on the deep dives and marine life in abundance. We were lucky enough to see a couple of big octopus, beautiful nudi branches and fish galore.

After a brilliant days diving we all sat down for an awesome surf & turf bbq; clams, steak, fish and sausages. Thanks everyone for joining in and helping out, a good time was had by all.

Russ is always happy when his grandson is with him at the ocean!

We at DBQ are planning to conduct all future Open Water qualification tours at Aqua Gallery because of the excellent facilities and great diving. Because there are no shore dives and boat dives only at this resort there will be a slight price increase. If however you prefer the cheaper option (shore dives only) we will have to arrange a tour to a different resort, but this can be discussed during your confined water training.

Apologies for shutting down the dive shop for the whole of last week; we were all recuperating from summer camp!

Upcoming events:

August 25-26: PADI Open Water Course at the dive center in Paju

September 22-23: International Beach Clean-up on the East Coast. We will be doing underwater and shore cleanups. Call us to book your place for Advanced Open Water and Specialty training and also to do your bit for the environment.

Until then, happy diving!

Deep Blue Quest Summer Camp – Week 1

Deep Blue Quest started their summer camp on the 28th of July.  The first group of divers on the tour consisted of eight divers. The weather was really beautiful and the water conditions were great throughout the tour.  The water temp was 24 degrees on the beach dives and 14 degree on all our deep dives.

great underwater conditions allowed for fantastic photo oppurtunities

Two out of the eight divers (Amanda Shaw and Adin Rivera) completed their open water certifications with Patrick (well done guys!).

We also completed some Dive Master Training with our newest intern.   She hit the road running and did an outstanding job throughout the tour.  She also it her deepest dive to date of 34 meters.
On Saturday night everyone enjoyed an awesome BBQ right in front of the beach. We had chicken breast, chicken wings, polish sausages, steak with vegetables on a skewer and lots of refreshments to drink. A good time was had by all and we are looking forward to the next one!

a proper bbq!

Russ was also very happy because he got to play with his little grandson (Alex) who is only 5 years old, in between his dives.

Welcome back Patrick!

Deep Blue Quest would like to welcome back Patrick Smith. Patrick started scuba diving around seven years ago with us when he signed up for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving program.

He loved it so much that he signed up for the next level which was the open water course and then on to his advanced open water course and so on. When he left Korea, he continued on with his diving passion.  He is now a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and has almost completed his PADI Instructor Development Course Staff Certification.

This coming weekend will be the end of our summer camp.  We will be completing six open water certifications and also conducting some fun divers for our certified divers.
