Weekend Review

Hey Deep Blue Questers!

This weekend was a hoot!  Taking a break from our Ocean trips, we spent the weekend in Paju and Seoul getting rested and having a blast.  On Saturday morning we went to Dwight International School to participate in their Annual Spring Fair.  It was great to meet all of the teachers, students, and parents to talk about all that diving has to offer.

Following the Spring Fair, Russ and Ken the Intern returned to Paju to complete Knowledge Reviews with a fantastic student Reg Jones.  We were very proud of how well he understood the course material.

Sunday brought us to Jamsil pool for some great pool training.  Our Course Director, Jimmy, was there conducting an Instructor Development Course.  It is always great to see him helping eager divers to become instructors.

Right now we are gearing up for an ocean trip this weekend and two days later, Deep Blue Quest is off to Okinawa!

Weekend Preview

Hi there Deep Blue Questers!

We here at Deep Blue Quest are gearing up for our first weekend at our dive-shop in over three weeks!  With the weather so nice, we have been spending our time doing training out at the ocean.  This doesn’t mean we aren’t super excited to do some Paju training….as long as it is diving-related we are happy!

This weekend Russ and Ken the Intern will be heading to Dwight International School on Saturday morning to talk about diving and how Deep Blue Quest has some really great diving programs for students of all ages!  DBQ’s second favorite thing after diving is talking about diving, so we are thrilled for this opportunity.

Following Dwight International School, we will be back at the dive-shop in Paju to conduct an Open Water course.  Our students seem awesome and eager…we are so excited to get them into diving!

And Lastly, on Sunday we will be doing a pool training session for our Open Water students as well as some intern training.  The weather should stay nice through the weekend, giving all of us a beautiful weekend!

Weekend Review

Hello Deep Blue Questers!

We have just returned from Korea’s beautiful East coast after a truly amazing three day tour.  This tour was not a teaching tour, rather a weekend for us to do what we love doing…DIVING!  We did use this time for intern development and give a chance for Chuck the intern to become acquainted with some of his new dive gear.  Russ learned how to drive Aqua Gallery’s boat, as well as how to operate their compressor system.  What a great vacation.

As for some upcoming items,

1)     Deep Blue Quest will be at Dwight International school this Saturday to discuss PADI diving with their students and parents

2)     Deep Blue Quest will be holding an Open Water course this Sunday in Paju.

3)     In honor of this past Teacher’s Day, we would like to extend a 50,000 won discount to all YBM teachers

Huge Weekend Review!

Deep Blue Questers!  We here at Deep Blue Quest wanted to share an amazing certification weekend that we just finished.  A special congratulations goes out to Jorge Jr. for completing his Jr. Open Water course, Moses and Sylvianne for completing their open water course, Jorge Sr. for completing his multilevel diver course, and Tracy and Kyle for completing their advanced open water course.

We were busy! but having a great time the whole weekend.  We went to Aqua Gallery, which is always a fine time, and they shut down the resort just for us!  Truly superb service by Mr Lim, his wife, and Mr. Yoon for going out of their way to show us an amazing time.  Take a look at our photos and see our certification weekend in all of its glory.

This coming weekend we will be doing a three day dive trip to celebrate Buddha’s birthday!  Let us know if you are interested!

A Word from Ken the Intern

As interest in Deep Blue Quest’s internship program is starting to increase, I thought it would be good to mention a little bit about what the internship has been like for me for me.

I started the internship about two months ago as an Advanced Open Water Diver.  Since then, I have obtained my Rescue Diver certification and several specialties.  However, the value I see in the internship has not just been in the courses that I have taken.  The real value has been the experience of working at a busy dive shop.   I have learned about interacting and helping students, learning how to maintain gear, and most importantly, ensuring the safety of all of our participants.

Russ, the lead instructor, has high standards.  There is no doubt about that.  But I can see that his high standards are making me a better diver, and hopefully an amazing instructor.

If you are interested in the internship, please contact Russ at:

Special Weekend Review

This was a very special weekend for us at Deep Blue Quest for many reasons.  It was our first ocean trip of the diving season, it was our first weekend spent at Deep Blue Quests new club house, Divemaster Don Ellerbee returned to do some awesome Divemastering, and Ken the intern passed his Rescue Divers course.  It was great!

We went to Aqua Gallery Resort for our diving adventure, which is a favorite of our here at Deep Blue Quest.  Mr. Stefan Lim, our host and boat captain, and his lovely wife were amazing to all of the students and staff, going above and beyond to make our weekend amazing.

We are also so proud of Jorge Rios Sr. for completing his Peak Performance Bouyancy, Jorge Rios Jr. For completing 3 of his 4 Jr. Open Water dives, and Mark Lancaster for completing his Open Water course.  They rocked the skills and their energy and enthusiasm through the weekend is what Deep Blue Quest is all about.
